Main objectives of the international cooperation

 

Main objectives of the international cooperation are:

·        harmonization of the national standardization system with international, regional standardization systems and with standardization systems of developed countries;

·        harmonization of the national standards with international, regional standards, as well as with national standards of other countries;

·        raise of the domestic products’ competitiveness in a world market and expansion of  exportation volumes;

·        protection of interests of the Republic of Armenia during the development of international (regional) standards;

·        harmonization of the conformity assessment rules and procedures with the international requirements;

·        provision of liabilities of the Republic of Armenia in the World Trade Organization;

·        protection of interests of the domestic producers during the realization of investment projects;

·        introducing current technology and high tech into the domestic market;

·        coordination of the commercial and economic, as well as scientific and technical normative provision of the Republic of Armenia with other countries.

The National Institute of Standards represents the Republic of Armenia in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as a P-member and in the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) as a partner standardization body.

The National Institute of Standards, as a subdivision of the National Standardization Body, cooperates with the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) within the bounds of works of Eurasian Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification.

International cooperation between CIS member countries is based on the intergovernmental agreement on “Realization of coherent policy in the field of standardization, metrology and certification” (March 13, 1992). International cooperation in the field of standardization and conformity assessment is also based on intergovernmental and

inter-departmental agreements.

The republic of Armenia has signed intergovernmental agreements with the Russian Federation, Belarus, Islamic Republic of Iran, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and other countries in the field of standardization, metrology and certification.

Inter-departmental agreements has been signed with the national standardization bodies of Chinese People's Republic, Islamic Republic of Iran, France, Slovak Republic, India, the Russian Federation, Belarus and other countries.

This cooperation contributes to the domestic products’ promotion in the external markets.
